Letter
to Schools
Project
Respect brings a much needed life skills resource into a secondary
school environment to build on work done in primary schools
through the DARE programme. The big difference of course is
that it was developed locally by Education, Police and Health
and designed to be teacher led, with an opportunity to involve
adults other than teachers eg Police Officers. Some tremendous
material has been produced during the lifetime of Project
Respect drawing on the expertise of many local professionals.
The
partner organisations want to build on the success of the
programme. They have consulted with schools and other support
organisations and now see the need to review present materials
and identify new content areas. This will enable the continuation
of high quality life skills material being available to schools.
Project
Respect has now welcomed DARE (UK) as an additional partner.
This will enable secondary schools to deliver a life skills
programme which builds on the work undertaken in primary schools.
It also brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the
programme.
It
is important when reviewing present work or planning for the
future that we consult closely with schools and teachers.
Project Respect materials are being reviewed and either refreshed
or replaced. New materials are also being produced to address
emerging issues. The Project is also looking at the implications
of developing teaching and learning to meet the needs of PSHE
and Citizenship work.
